The 40-year-old hasn’t kept her love life a secret at all – in fact, she often talks about it on stage.

But, what you might not know is that she struggled so much early in her professional life that she filed for bankruptcy.

Here’s a look at the Dagenham-born actress’ love life with other comedians and the story of her bankruptcy.

When Sara left the University of Sussex with a degree in English, she wanted to act, but the job was hard to find, and she voluntarily declared herself bankrupt, according to the evening standard.

She had to go out with a comedian and break up with him for her to find her voice in comedy.

She told the Guardian: “I went to see him do a concert and it was boys holding notepads which were terrible. And I was like, ‘Oh, I can do that. I can be terrible with a notepad!

“A broken heart is a great time to stand up, because if it’s been a horrible heartbreak, you’re at the bottom of your own barrel. If you take the stage with nothing to lose, nothing bad can happen, and that actually makes you pretty fearless.

“And the second I got up I got it all.”

Sara’s love life has provided her with fantastic content.

“There’s an explosion of creativity – you get this amazing energy when you fall in love, just like you do with grief,” she said. told the Daily Mail. “It can be such a creative time and it was such a fun thing to write.”

But she realizes that it can be awkward sometimes when her exes hang out in the audience.

She continued, “I had routines that my first boyfriend and I didn’t have enough sex.

“I think back to them now and I’m like, ‘He came over to see me play Live at the Apollo while I was talking about the silliness of my sex life with him.’ He was so accommodating, he never said, “My coworkers saw that” or “My mom looked.”

Sara dated fellow comedian John Robins for a while, but is now married to another comedian – Australian comedian Steen Raskopoulos.

She admitted to The Guardian that women who only date comedians are often referred to as ‘gag hag’ or ‘bike clown’, but the reality was that she just didn’t have a social life outside of. the comedy.

She said: “The reason I forgive myself is that I used to do concerts seven days a week, I didn’t have a social life, and what tends to happen is that ‘is that people have drinks after work, which means you’re up quite late with people… ”
