DPS Jammu Wins First Place at University of Jammu Science Exhibition

Jammu, August 26: Akriti Khajuria and Karen Rangroo from Class XII of Delhi Jammu Public School brought laurels to the school and their parents by winning 1st position in the one-day science exhibition organized by the Zoology Department of the University of Jammu in collaboration with Human Genetics, University of Jammu and GMC, Jammu.

Out of 41 participating institutions including various schools, colleges and different universities in Jammu, Delhi Jammu Public School landed first place in the ‘Genetic Disorder Awareness’ poster display competition. The focus areas were: birth defects, autosomal genetic disorders, sex-linked disorders, rare genetic diseases, etc.

The main guest, Prof. MK Dhar, Former Vice-Chancellor, JU and Chief Coordinator of Human Genetics, JU, along with Prof. Shashi Sudhan presented the certificates and cash prizes to the winners, and also appreciated their confidence, knowledge and presentation.

Other members present on the occasion were Professor Seema Langer-Dean, Life Sciences and HOD-Deptt. of Zoology, Prof. BK Bajaj, Coordinator of Human Genetics and Prof. GD Saini, Head of Pediatrics, Govt. Medical College, Jammu, while the keynote speaker was Prof. Anupam Kour (GNDU, Amritsar).

The Director of DPS Jammu, Mrs. Ruchi Chabra congratulated the students and their Head Teacher, Dr. Gurmeet Kour and encouraged them to participate more in such events for experiential learning.
