Eureka High volunteer coach arrested for alleged child sex abuse

A volunteer coach for the Eureka High School boys’ basketball team was arrested Wednesday by the Fortuna Police Department on suspicion of a series of charges of sexually abusing a child under the age of 14.

Eureka City Schools sent out a news release today stating that the district is aware of the arrest of Nathan Thomas Hentley. He also coached men’s basketball last year.

Effective immediately, Hentley’s volunteer and coaching status with the ECS is revoked,” the statement read. “An investigation is ongoing with the Fortuna Police Department and, at this time, nothing has been determined. indicates that ECS students are involved.”

Eureka City Schools (ECS) is aware of the arrest of Nathan Thomas Hentley. Hentley was a volunteer men’s basketball coach at Eureka High School this year and a traveling men’s basketball coach last year. Effective immediately, Hentley’s volunteer and coaching status with ECS is revoked.
