Freddie Blay’s comments on the real position of the government – Mahdi Jibril

National Chairman of the NPP, Freddie Blay

National Democratic Congress (NDC) national organizer Mahdi Jibril believes that the ruling government has always supported the legalization of homosexuality in Ghana.

Lawyer and politician, Freddie Blay said Ghanaians should not divide heads over sexual preference which two consenting adults choose to enjoy in private and the ongoing campaign to criminalize all forms of sexual activity homosexuality is useless and hypocritical.

Freddie Blay, current National Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has insisted that he is expressing his ‘personal’ views on LGBT as a Ghanaian lawyer and not as a party holder Politics.

“Freddie Blay expresses the spirit of the NPP. He should have spoken about the cathedral instead, because that is the subject we are talking about now, but he chose not to. His statement is the position of the party, and I doubt that if Freddie Blay had chosen the form of the presidency, he would speak like that,” he told Don Kwabena Prah of Happy98.9FM during the political talk show “Epa Hoa Daben”.

According to him, it was just a mistake on the part of Freddie Blay to have made this statement.

“It was just wrong for him to bring this up. Freddie Blay is present at the Council of Ministers, and that is why I say that he is fully aware of what he is doing. Freddie Blay announced what the NPP plans to do,” he claimed.

He argued that Freddie Blay’s statement was to test the waters for the nuclear plant.
