German killer who wanted to “live out cannibalistic fantasies” faces life imprisonment :: WRAL.com

– A German who committed murder with “cannibalistic motives” has been sentenced to life imprisonment by a regional court in Berlin.

Stefan R – whose CNN affiliate ZDF is a 42-year-old teacher – was also convicted and sentenced for disturbing the peace of the dead, following the murder of a 43-year-old man in the apartment of the accused to September 2020, the court said.

The court said Stefan R killed his victim to “obtain sexual gratification” through the act and the intention to consume parts of the corpse afterwards.

According to the court’s findings, the two men had met in the accused’s Berlin apartment after coming into contact on an online dating platform. At the apartment, Stefan R allegedly sedated the victim, killed her and then severed her genitals in order to eat them.

It was not possible to determine with certainty whether the defendant in fact implemented this particular intention, but the court said it was “probable”.

CNN affiliate NTV reported that the prosecutor’s office previously said Stefan R “lured the man into a trap,” repeatedly raised the subject of cannibalism in conversations with other sexual partners and “wanted to live his fantasies”.

The accused also allegedly dismembered the victim’s body and deposited the pieces around Pankow, a district of the German capital.

According to NTV, the victim’s bones were found weeks after the murder.

After interviewing a number of witnesses and assessing the accused, the court concluded that the accused had acted for “cannibalistic motives” – and since Stefan R was convicted of a “particularly serious crime”, according to the court, he cannot be released on compulsory parole after having served 15 years in Germany.

The verdict is not final and can always be appealed.

This is not the first time that Germany has been shaken by a case of cannibalism. In 2006, Armin Meiwes was convicted of murdering and eating a man he met online after posting an ad looking for someone ready to be eaten and eaten.

In 2015, a German policeman was convicted of the murder and slaughter of a man he met on an online cannibalism forum.
