Heartbreaking video shows the moment a young woman’s drinking shame sinks
Police have shared footage of the moment a young woman learned she was arrested – and at risk of losing her job – for drunk driving in Lancashire.
Set to dramatic background music, the video reveals that police stopped a car, in the Fylde area, around 5.30am on July 1. The 20-year-old motorist told officers she spent an evening with friends but “‘didn’t drink for several hours’.
But when officers took her breathalyzer, they found she was twice the drinking limit. The video continues: “What you are about to watch is the harsh reality and consequences of drunk driving taking hold.”

The woman then asks what the legal limit is before the officers inform her that she ‘blew 70’. The legal limit is 35 micrograms per 100 milliliters of breath.
When officers ask her if they want her to let anyone know that she will be in custody “for a few hours”, she reveals that she lives with her mother. But, she adds, “I don’t want her to know.”
The tearful woman then said, “I’m going to lose my job. If I lose my license, my life is over. And I can’t complain, it’s my fault, don’t get me wrong. I don’t Not trying to get sympathy, but I just got this job.”
The video then reveals that the woman, who is not identified, appeared in court on July 22. She was banned from driving for 22 months and ordered to pay £400.
The video was captioned: “This is the moment a 20-year-old drunk driver begins to realize exactly what she did. We’ve decided to keep it anonymous, but hopefully it shows you can still go over the limit the next morning. Don’t risk it.”
