How to Comment on Times Union Blog Posts

Behind the scenes, we’ve made some updates to our blogs, but subscribers can still comment on blog posts. Here’s how.

To comment, log in to your subscription account: Click the “log in” button at the top right of any page on the site. (If this button says “account”, then you are already logged in.)

There are two ways to access comments: Click the speech bubble icon just below the title of a blog post or click the “Show comments” button at the end of the post.

Below the title, you will see a comment box. Click in this space and write your comment. Click the “send” button when you are done. Comments are subject to moderation. Our goal is to create an environment where you can engage in thoughtful conversations about our communities. Please see our full feedback policy; comments that violate these guidelines will be deleted, and users who repeatedly violate the guidelines will be banned from commenting.

Capitol Confidential, Kristi, Shopportunist and Table Hopping all have reviews.

How do I change my username?

By default, your comment username will be the beginning of your comment account email address – everything before the @ sign. You can change your username: Click on the “account” button at the top right of the page, then click on “profile settings”. On this new page that opens, change the display name. (Note that comment usernames do not have spaces.)

For households with more than one commentator, you can add a second email address to your subscription account. To do so, call 518-454-5454 or email [email protected] for assistance.

How do I change comment notification settings?

By default, email notifications are enabled. This means you’ll receive an email when you’re mentioned in a comment, when someone likes or replies to your comment, and if your comment is rejected or a comment pending moderation is approved. (Other commenters don’t have access to your email address.)

You can change these notification settings. In a blog post’s comment space, click the gear icon in the top right of the screen, then click “Settings.” Check or uncheck the boxes for the types of email notifications you want to receive, then click the “save changes” button.
