People remained divided after debating Prince Harry’s seating position at the Queen’s funeral

People think he’s been ‘sidelined’

Viewers of the Queen’s funeral wondered why Prince Harry sat in the second row behind King Charles II, his father, rather than the same row.

Prince Harry arrived dressed in his morning suit and military medals, but as the world watched many noticed he was sitting behind his cousins, out-of-work royals Zara Phillips and Mark Tindall .

Some Twitter users wondered if Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle had been “snubbed”, while others thought it was simply because they no longer worked in the royal family. Others, however, felt it was just “optics” so it could be captured properly on cameras.

After the first service at Westminster Abbey, Prince Harry then dealt behind his grandmother’s coffin as another conversation gripped internet users. This time his choice of clothes, or rather the clothes he was not allowed to wear.

Ongoing conversation throughout the season of mourning has centered on whether Prince Harry or the Queen’s son Prince Andrew could wear their military uniform at today’s funeral.

The king’s eldest son, Prince William, were both seen in their uniforms.

Harry gave up his honorary military titles in 2020 when he and his wife, Meghan Markle, stepped down as senior members of the royal family.

The Duke of Sussex was originally not allowed to wear his military uniform at this weekend’s vigil.

A spokesperson for Harry released a statement last week, saying: “Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex will wear a morning suit throughout events in honor of his grandmother. His decade of military service is not determined by the uniform he wears and we respectfully ask him to remain focused on the life and legacy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

But over the weekend, King Charles III allowed Harry to wear his uniform as he watched over their grandmother’s coffin for 15 minutes of silence alongside William and their cousins.

William and Harry also dealt behind their grandmother’s coffin as it traveled from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall on Wednesday.

The brothers rose to fame behind the coffin of their late mother, Princess Diana, at her funeral in 1997. Most recently, they reunited in April 2021 to walk behind Prince Philip’s coffin at his intimate funeral in Windsor , in England.

Prince Andrew was stripped of his royal duties and military titles following his controversial relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, and wore his morning suit despite earlier reports that he would be allowed to wear his uniform soldier as a “mark of respect” for his mother.

There had been questions about whether the children would attend the service given their ages, but the attendance of Prince William’s two eldest children was confirmed in a service order on Sunday.

Prince George, 9, is second in line to the throne after his father Prince William, while Princess Charlotte, 7, is third.

Besides the royal family, the funeral is attended by hundreds of dignitaries from around the world, including all of the Queen’s former prime ministers, US President Joe Biden and French President Macron.
