SPC Nursing Student Association Holds Clothing Drive for Victims of Sexual Assault

[ad_1]

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) — Victims of sexual assault typically leave the hospital in gowns after an assault because their clothes are sometimes cut off and used as evidence. The South Plains College Nursing Student Association is trying to give the gift of dignity to victims of sexual abuse in Lubbock.

Once the donations have been collected, they will be put in packs. These packs will then be given to SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) nurses at Voice of Hope in Lubbock. When a sexual assault is reported, a SANE nurse will respond with the pack.

The association collects all sizes of the following items for men, women and children:

  • solid color t-shirts (no white t-shirts)
  • sweatpants
  • sports bras
  • underwear
  • underwear liners
  • travel size soap bars

Any type of comfortable clothing is acceptable. There is a great need for underwear, but all items are needed.

Donations are accepted until March 11, 2022 at the Levelland and Reese campuses. At the Levelland campus, donations will be accepted at the Allied Health Building. There are donation boxes located on Reese’s campus.

If you would like to make a cash donation, please contact Jessica Williams at 806-300-3476.
