Starry Night Toy Drive to Help Children in Need at LACASA Center – The Livingston

The LACASA Collection invites the community to participate in its fifth edition Starry Night Holiday Toy Collection and help a child in need at the LACASA center.

The Starry Night fundraiser is underway and will continue until December 17, 2022. Community members are encouraged to bring a new toy, gift, or unwrapped gift card to LACASA Collection, the one-stop charity shop where all proceeds stay local to help victims of abuse at the LACASA Center.

Toys and gifts are necessary for boys and girls of all ages. The biggest need this year is for VISA or discount store gift cards for tweens and teens. Gift cards at places like Wal-Mart, Meijer, and Kohl’s ensure that older kids aren’t left behind and give them the opportunity to purchase items that interest them. Younger children love arts and crafts, games and books, dolls and action figures, and Lego kits.

Donors can place their donation under the store’s donation tree and write their name or initials on a star to hang on the tree. In exchange for a new gift, donors will receive a scintillating in-store discount coupon, 50% off one item (excluding furniture).

LACASA Center is an independent, locally based non-profit organization that provides essential shelter, counseling and services to victims of child abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault. All victim services are provided free of charge. The agency also conducts educational programs throughout the community to raise awareness and help prevent abuse.

All donated toys and gifts will be distributed to children living in the LACASA crisis shelter and those participating in the agency’s Child Counseling Program. LACASA customers who are parents will also have the opportunity to select gifts for their children to ensure Santa is prepared with everything he needs for his big sleigh ride.

Toys and gift cards can be brought to LACASA Collection from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday or 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at 120 W. Highland Road at Kroger/Crossroads Plaza, Howell. Community partners collecting toys and gift cards during the fundraiser include Hands On Health Chiropractic in Brighton, Trinity Health Brighton & Howell and Minerva’s Salon & Wellness Spa in Brighton.

The LACASA Center is the only such organization in the state, and one of only a handful in the nation, that provides comprehensive services to victims of child abuse, domestic violence, and sexual assault. This approach allows victims and their families to receive continuity of care under one roof as they work to rebuild their lives. Learn more at
