Tommy Lee was born in 1962 as Thomas Lee Bass in Athens, Greece. His father was a US Army sergeant and his mother was Miss Greece in 1960. When he was just one year old, his family moved to California.

He received his first drumsticks at the age of four and a full set of drums as a teenager. He was very fond of hard rock and heavy metal like Kiss, Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple.

During his school days, Lee was a drummer before deciding to drop out to pursue his dream of being in a rock band. Studio 19 was Lee’s first band. Lee met Nikki Sixx on a Studio 19 show who later became teammate Mötley Crüe.

The Warner music group’s record company Elektra Records then signed Mötley Crüe and reissued Too Fast For Love in 1982. Subsequently, Mötley Crüe released a string of hit albums like Shout at the Devil (1983) , Theater of Pain (1985), Girls, Girls, Girls (1987) and Dr. Feelgood (1989).

Tommy bought a house in the Malibu Hills in 1995 for $837,886. He shared this house with his ex-wife Pamela Anderson.

In one of the episodes of “MTV Cribs” broadcast in the year 2000, this house in Malibu was visited. A decade later, he sold the house for $2.5 million.
